The U.S. Department of Education Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives will conduct a free technical assistance workshop for faith-based and community organizations that are interested in working with children in their community. This workshop is in addition to the White House Conference and requires separate registration.

Under President George W. Bush's No Child Left Behind Act, faith-based and community organizations are eligible to receive federal funds to provide extra academic help to students in certain schools that need improvement. These Supplemental Educational Services are additional academic instruction designed to increase the academic achievement of students in low-performing schools. There are also funds available to support after-school programs, mentoring programs, computer programs and summer food programs, to name a few.

If you are interested in learning more about how to access federal funds and make a difference in the life a child, make plans to attend this free technical assistance workshop.

Please complete and return the attached registration form  by September 10, 2004. This workshop is in addition to the White House Conference and requires separate registration.

If you have any questions, please call 202-219-1741.
