Methodist Youth Services, Inc., a premier child welfare agency, is expanding its programs and has the following position(s) available.  We are seeking qualified and motivated individuals with a desire to assist disadvantaged youth succeed.  Candidates with experience working in facilities serving “at risk” youth and a child welfare background are strongly preferred. 

RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR

 

This position occupies an organizational level of senior manager.  The Residential Supervisor partakes in program/resource marketing and development, with significant responsibility for improving and maintaining program census, positive program outcomes, and compliance with all program plan requirements, licensing, certification and accrediting requirements.

 

A Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other comparable acceptable field in human services in accordance to Departmental Rule 401 is required.  Must have at least two years of relevant supervisory and residential experience.  A valid driver’s license and car insurance is required. Must satisfactorily pass an IDCFS background clearance and meet transportation requirements.

Positions are available for individuals experienced in assisting youth with building life skills and developing recreational programs and activities.  Candidate must be experienced working with “at risk” youth and must be able to set boundaries and discipline when necessary.

CASE MANAGER 

The Case Manager will be responsible for support and advocacy of youth.  Responsibilities will include managing and coordinating services for each client as they transition through the program.  The Case Manager will formulate assessment of the emotional, social and mental health issues of the clients, at the time of intake and frequent re-assessment as the client progresses through the program. 

A Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other comparable acceptable field in human services in accordance to Departmental Rule 401 is required and a current child welfare license. At least two years of direct case management experience in a child welfare environment and immediate stabilization.  A valid driver’s license and car insurance is required. Must satisfactorily pass an IDCFS background clearance and meet transportation requirements.

GRANT WRITING AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

Part Time Position 

We seek a grant writer that offers a successful track record of obtaining both private foundation and government grant funding.  In addition the individual selected will be part of a team assisting the CEO with initiatives to prospect, nurture and attract new non-grant sources of funding.  

The position requires a minimum of one year of grant writing experience, preferably in the social services arena.  A degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus.  The individual selected must be available to work 16 – 20 hours week. The position offers a competitive hourly rate and some scheduling flexibility.  

Candidates selected for interview will be required to provide writing samples.

PROGRAM SECRETARY AND SWITCHBOARD RECEPTIONIST 

The primary responsibilities of the position are to facilitate the day to day operations of assigned program(s) by delivering timely and accurate clerical support and to provide switchboard-reception support for headquarters in a courteous manner that projects a positive service driven organizational image. 

A minimum of a High School Diploma with some business related post secondary education and training preferred. No less than two years of general office experience, with at least one year of directly related secretarial and switchboard/reception responsibility and a prior history of appropriately maintaining confidential records. Must possess strong Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).  Candidate must pass physical, including drug screen and any applicable background checks.

JANITOR/DRIVER 

The primary responsibility of the Janitor/Driver will be to provide a variety of internal and external delivery or pick-up services to all facilities, including mail and weekly/monthly food purchases.  Responsibilities also include the proper maintenance and care for all facilities and agency vehicles. 

High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.  Must have 3 years of documented experience or vocational school certification in the maintenance or janitorial field preferred.  As a position requirement, the applicant must have the ability to transport clients and be able to meet all DCFS transportation standards.  As part of these transportation criteria, proof of insurance with the appropriate degree of coverage will also be required.

MILIEU WORKER SPECIALIST

COOK 

The cook will be skilled in nutritional, dietary, and developmental needs of youth.  Will develop and maintain a nourishing food service program and must be capable of menu planning and ordering food items.  Must maintain food and kitchen sanitation standards. 

At least 2 years of documented food preparation experience, preferably within a social service environment working with youth.  Both the City and State Sanitation license is mandatory.  Must meet all DCFS requirements and satisfactorily pass a DCFS background clearance. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is also required.
